The Great Crusade arrived on the South Island to some amazing weather and scenery. Panoramic valleys and mountain passes were in abundance on the drive to Nelson, where the tour was able to sample some Southern hospitality at Nelson Rugby Club (est 1870), the oldest rugby club in NZ. Whilst in Nelson, our tour blogger, Green & Gold Rugby, attempted to find some ‘authentic’ Russian fans, with some interesting results.

After cheering on the Wallabies against Russia, the Crusade headed for the alpine resort town of Hanmer Springs. Famous for its thermal hot springs and thrill-seeking adventure sports, Hanmer sits in a valley framed by snow-capped mountains.

A visit to the Hanmer Hot Springs proved most relaxing for all on the Crusade, before tackling Bungy Jumping and Jet boating.
